Did you ever read a book called 'Tisha'? It's a young/adult book recounting a young teacher's experience in Chicken, Alaska. I loved this book. The book is set in early 1900's, very primitive living. It is a small part of my complete obsession with Alaska. I think the eIditarod will fall in very nicely with our Adventure/Discovery theme this January. I'll be looking into this. Thanks-

I've read Tisha, too, and it's a wonderful book. I couldn't put it down.Thanks for posting about this project. My husband and I are reading Woodsong right now by Gary Paulson. The timing of your post is perfect. We're signing up to join the project- our second-grader is very excited!
